Swishfund finances SMEs in days instead of weeks. An entrepreneur applies for a loan online, and while he fills in the form his company details are retrieved, his bank transactions are read and the first hard rules are applied. That we have been building this since 2018 started with something much smaller: a website for Krediet Vooruit, as Swishfund was called back then.
Eight years on, the marketing site is no longer our responsibility. What is ours: the application process, the API hub that every integration passes through, the repayment engine against Rabobank and the portals for customers and brokers. From building everything to running the engine - and that is exactly where we like to sit.

The challenge
Financing quickly means the assessment has to run largely without human hands. That only works if the data the assessment rests on comes in reliably: company details from the trade register, bank transactions from the entrepreneur’s own account, and a judgement on creditworthiness. Those sources were not always equally stable. Account information access under PSD2 was barely mature in 2018; the provider that did it for us has changed three times since - once because a party was acquired, once because there was simply something better. Meanwhile the entrepreneur was not to notice any of it.
The sources the assessment rests on were not always equally stable.

Our approach
We never put the integrations in the application form itself, but in a layer in between.
- An application in four steps - loan, company, bank, summary - that queries the trade register while it is being filled in and tests the application against a number of hard rules, so anyone who does not get through hears straight away instead of in a week’s time
- SF Connect as the API hub: one Laravel service that KvK, Companies House, account information access, e-mail and marketing all pass through, with every integration kept separate so one can change without touching the rest
- Account information access via PSD2 where that is possible and an MT940 upload where it is not, because some of the entrepreneurs bank with a party that does not take part
- A repayment engine against Rabobank Direct Connect: payment batches out, bank files in, direct debit mandates via Twikey
- A client portal where the entrepreneur sees his loans, repayments and documents, with two-factor and the option to extend his bank authorisation himself
- A separate environment for brokers, and separate tools for credit reports and identity checks in the United Kingdom
That same set-up runs for the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, each with its own trade register, banks and credit bureau.

The result
Eight years, and the core has not been rebuilt once. The bank integration has been replaced three times without the application form having to be touched. In February 2026 the client portal went live, in March the environment for brokers - both on the same hub. That is what an engine has to do: change visibly on the outside and keep working the same way on the inside.
Where we started with everything - website, form, hosting, maintenance - our role has become narrower and deeper. The marketing site now sits elsewhere. The technology the money passes through sits with us.
The bank integration has been replaced three times with one from another provider, without the form having to be touched.
